01. Can Refiners Learn to Effectively Market Sulfur? |
According to Gordon Cope’s recent article, issues of unwanted sulfur production as a refinery by-product, and options for dealing with a supply that exceeds current worldwide demand, present marketing and disposal challenges that will likely increase in scope as consumption of gas and oil increases. Refiners know that removing sulfur from liquid fuels is expensive, so recovering costs through effective marketing of this byproduct as acid for industrial uses, as additives for concrete, and as fertilizer offer opportunities not traditionally associated with hydrocarbon processing. 02. Solid Scavenger System Removes H2S from Natural Gas at Gas Field in Hungary
The Sàvoly gas field is a small field located just to the south of Lake Balaton. Associated gas is processed from wells in the region. As the field matured, higher levels of H2S in the natural gas were found than previously. Due to local farmers complaining of odor, and related environmental requirements, an H2S removal process was needed to safely remove the H2S. Read the case history.
