LO-CAT® Removes H2S From Biogas At Waste Water Treatment Plants
At the Hyperion Waste Water Treatment Plant in Los Angeles, digester gas
H2S concentration had to be controlled so
that SOx emissions from the on-site digester
gas combustion could be kept within regulatory limits. With emissions under
control, gas could be burned to generate steam for heat or electricity
or sold to local utilities. This plant treats nearly 420 MGD, generating
over 475 tons of raw sludge per day.
To eliminate the problems arising from plugging of the packed columns in the original Stretford unit, the unit was converted to a LO-CAT® unit with mobile bed absorbers. This retrofitted plant exceeds all requirements and produces a treated gas with a H2S content significantly below the required outlet level.
